Principal's Message

Dear Smith-Jackson Families:

Welcome back to the Smith-Jackson School community!  My name is Chelsea Hockridge, and I have been a teacher within Mountain View School Division for the past 13 years.  I am so very glad to be a part of this school, and can’t wait to get to know the students and families of SJS. I hope you have all had an enjoyable summer and are excited for the new school year to begin.  I would like to extend a special welcome to our new Kindergarten students, as well as to all of the families who are new to Smith-Jackson School this year.

Smith-Jackson will continue this year to stay grounded in our mission; to provide a quality educational environment where the academic, social and moral growth of students is valued and nurtured within a culturally rich, bilingual setting.

I invite you to participate in your child’s education by encouraging your child to be proactive, set goals, prioritize what’s important, consider others, seek to understand and work as a team.  It’s also important to remember to find and celebrate the things that bring us joy and keep us balanced.  As well, I would like to encourage you to keep the lines of communication open with school staff, and to join us as we explore new learning opportunities and participate in rich cultural experiences.

I look forward to working together with all of you in the year ahead.

Vitaemo1 Welcome!

Mrs. Chelsea Hockridge
